Instead of Paris designer Hedi Slimane presented his latest Saint Laurent men’s and women’s collections in Los Angeles at the famed Palladium. The runway show is actually the 2nd project Slimane worked on in Los Angeles, following his photography exhibition in 2011.
FALL WINTER 2016 MEN’S AND WOMEN’S COLLECTIONS
With music as one of the key sources of inspiration this time Slimane and his design team were inspired by the Los Angeles music scene reflected in the latest designs sent down the runway. At the same time the showing presents the 50th anniversary of Yves Saint Laurent‘s line Saint Laurent Rive Gauche today revived by Hedi Slimane. The massive show brought who’s who of the fashion scene to the West Coast, with 71 models and musicians taking the runway to present 93 new looks.
Most of the collection prepared for the Fall Winter 2016 season is unisex, masterfully reflecting Slimane’s take on the androgynous look. The craftsmanship was an important ingredient of the latest showing with all of embroideries made entirely made by hand. Moreover to make the 50th anniversary the collection includes a contemporary nod to the historic Rive Gauche prints.
