SPRING SUMMER 2017 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
The impressionist painter Monet plays a pivotal role in the inspiration behind the Xu Zhi SS17 collection – both visually and conceptually. A mix of both texture and colour creates a subtle reference to the brush strokes of the artist’s iconic landscape paintings, whilst the silhouettes and textiles themselves build on the aesthetic and attitude of the Xu Zhi woman. The shapes are comforting but also, strongly decisive – with delicate draping and fringe adding charm and movement to the pieces. Continuing the atelier’s technique of hand braided yarns, SS17 explores the use of a variety of textures, creating lighter pieces, both in construction and in sentient. As a result, Xu Zhi has conceived a timeless yet whimsical collection that feeds the contemporary eye with a poetic and feminine touch. – from Xu Zhi
