Dutch artist Irma Boom has designed some of the most beautiful books to have been published in the last decade, booms designs always bring a lot more than just reading pleasure, they are a feast for the eyes and works of art in their own right. Boom designs more than 50 books each year, her first steps are to decide on the size form and weight of the book. Irma Boom studied graphic design, shes usually in the middle of 15 book projects at once, the design takes at least 2 months to complete, but it can also take several years. Some of her works are exhibited in museums, like New York’s MOMA. With Irma Booms design even company reports become works of art, her studio is set in Amsterdam, she takes inspiration in her work from cities many small bookstores, which also sell books she designed. Irma Boom wants people also to read her books, people should enjoy the text as well as the design.
