Photographer Douglas Friedman beautifully captured noted psychiatrist and fashion plate Samantha Boardman at her Southampton as part of his The Fashionable Life series published in the September 2013 edition of Harper's Bazaar. The impressive home was bought by Samantha and her husband Aby Rosen twelve years ago. Their love for art collecting shows throughout the 1926 Colonial Revival house.
"The house is so massive, but designed to be comfortable," Friedman explained. "It was livable; it didn't feel precious, like you have to be on guard. I really appreciated the warmth – it was definitely the home of a family." Boardman and Rosen have two children ("Sam's kids are charming and well-behaved," Friedman remarked) and a pair of dogs. "Every room you walk into contains another fabulous piece of art," he went on, "but there's a balance. With the proportions of the space, it all functions well together as a home. You're not overwhelmed by any one aspect."
