Menswear designer Andrea Pompilio is leaving his mark on Canali, making the best of this Italian label’s tailoring qualities part of a modern-man’s classic suit. Pompilio known for his eye-catching choice of bright nuances and geometric patterns has once again presented a slew of coveted looks on Canali’s Via Savona runway. If you thought double-breasted is out of season, you’ll think again after this collection (see it in video below).
Lines are an essential part of the collection; I trace them one at a time, studying and moving them to craft motifs – abstract stripes, checks and shapes of varying proportions that underlie signature elements of my aesthetic and the identity of Canali at the same time. These lines shift and evolve, developing into a distinct architecture of style. The collection blends formal and informal – sweaters, jackets, coats – in an original composite of layers. Soft outerwear in pure double cashmere, clean-cut pants with considerable cuffs that sit just at the ankle, ample sweaters with braided detailing and accessories in premium and unique materials. – from Andrea Pompiio
