DAKS is back to London with its womenswear show taking on the Fall Winter 2016 London Fashion Week. The collection shaped by Creative Director Filippo Scuffi goes hand in hand with the men’s fall winter 2016 recently presented during the men’s Milan Fashion Week.
FALL WINTER 2016 WOMENSWEAR SHOWS
The colour palette is predominantly black, but in many shades, tones and reflections. There are also highlights of orange, evocative of sunset, bronze and very slight glints of gold. A varied choice of fabrics is very important to this collection. This not only applies to the keynote garments, but also to skirts and dresses. These include flowing black silk velvet of iridescent appearance; wool velvet with a more matt, structured look; silk moiré and heavy ottoman fabrics lifted straight from the world of women’s high fashion textiles. There is also a strong presence of lightweight, airy fabrics such as chiffon and georgette, which bear the brand’s imprints of the season. In particular, there is a special new ‘anniversary check,’ which celebrates 40 years of DAKS’ famous House Check. Embellished with lace and ribbon redolent of the Victorian era, the collection immediately reveals its powerful feminine appeal. In contrast, jackets have fuller, more structured shoulders, making the female figure more imposing. Interestingly, Creative Director Filippo Scuffi has sought to highlight the DAKS branding with jackets constructed in strips of fabric featuring gemstones in the house colours of camel, vicuna and black. In addition elegant brooches dotted around the jacket lapels, are immediately evocative of dressing for an English evening. – from DAKS London
