Luxury ready-to-wear and accessories designer Natasha Zinko presented her Spring Summer 2017 Womenswear collection during the recently finished London Fashion Week. For ss17 collection designer was inspired by one of her grandmother’s crochet creations, an intricate bird. The theme started with jewellery collection and has also been transformed into a silk print combined with paisley. The collection exudes elegance and whimsical glamour with a sense of fun and eccentricity.
SPRING SUMMER 2017 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
“NATASHA ZINKO was inspired by the shape of Japanese kimonos and has incorporated this silhouette in the collection, featuring saturated colourways and candies ranging from pink to citron and blue, contrasted with black to reinforce a sense of masculinity that has become a fundamental theme in the designer’s collections. The wide variety of 3D ribbons and bows used throughout the ready-to-wear is reminiscent of Marie Antoinette, with bright hues and powerful lines. Feminine and masculine shapes, colours and materials are expertly combined to emphasise a ‘tomboy’ aesthetic that defines the designer’s vision of the NATASHA ZINKO woman – men’s oversized jackets, cuffed tailored trousers, camouflage parkas and deconstructed pieces made with original vintage denim combined with delicate lace lingerie. “Every cool girl is half a boy” says the designer to reinforce the juxtaposition of contrasting themes in the collection. There is an undeniable attention to detail throughout, with intentional raw edges to reinforce NATASHA ZINKO’s passion for ‘perfect imperfections’. Humour plays a key role this season too, with subtle references to the surrealist work of Picasso featuring simplistic and playful elements such as the artist’s signature straw hat.“
