Cushnie et Ochs presented Spring Summer 2018 collections during New York Fashion Week. Inspired by the life of Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, and the work of Spanish artist, Ernesto Artillo, the collection features a vivid, passionate color palette, contrasted by various shapes and angles.
SPRING SUMMER 2018 COLLECTIONS
Silhouettes such as exaggerated square necklines and billowing sleeves reflect Frida’s mixed European/Mexican heritage- juxtaposing influences which are famously depicted in Frida’s painting “Las Dos Fridas.” This idea is also conveyed through the mixing of fabrics, materials and colors. Corsetry is subtly woven throughout the collection –boning details are present across an array of structured bodysuits, jumpsuits, dresses and pants. Matte satin ribbon creates visual interest- draping across necklines, around waistlines, and over the shoulder to the floor. – Cushnie et Ochs
