AUTUMN WINTER 2018 RUNWAYS
“Taking the form of practical wear, many of these new garments look to protect their wearers while simultaneously letting their men’s bodies be ready to build a more progressive future. This has been created through combat-esque cuts and ultra functional elements such as oversized pockets, reflective strips and warm textures taking inspiration from construction workers. The collection plays with the functionality of garments which both protect and promote action while simultaneously poking fun at our gendered failures. Jewellery has been created with Cough in Vain which pokes fun at the gaze of safety that men are meant to inhabit. This joviality has also been expressed through DANSHAN’s prints of poetic penises which are subtly noticeable and elude to the fragility of masculinity.
By tackling the cold, sterile, overtly and unnecessarily macho – their collection will support optimism towards endorsing behaviours that are so readily neglected in the formation of garments that allows those who want to take action towards a life that celebrates the sublimity of tenderness.“
