SPRING SUMMER 2019 COLLECTIONS
As the spotlights flicker to life in the club called Whisper, new outlines of ANAÏS JOURDEN’s exploration of femininity are revealed to the onlooker. Like a graduation from the soft, innocent halls of adolescence, the SS19 collection is an homage to a cheeky and glamorous coming of age. Drawn in soft variations of pink and white, with dashes of disco metals and black, this burgeoning seductress has discarded her ballet shoes, preferring patent and faux-fur heels to walk the night. Having lost nothing of her youthful optimism, the SS19 ANAÏS JOURDEN woman takes command of her subtle sensuality and plays out her fantasies with a dazzling bestiary of cristal objects, made in collaboration with Swarovski. The contours of her body come into sharper focus, the design vernacular of previous collections evolving into lighter, more body-conscious silhouettes. Calligraphic mesh has replaced last year’s graphic guipures, lamé lace is cut diligently into tailored skirts and jackets, revealing at times the playful transparencies of organza. Long strands of ruffles blossom from biased-cut dressed and skirts, with poplin separates being subverted into tongue-in-cheek tropes of girlish femininity. At times a sailor, or his lover, a church-goer, or a lady-who-lunches, this woman explores a darker, more nocturnal side of her personality. With the same mixture of relish and restraint, she blows a tender farewell kiss to her childhood, embracing the promise of tonight. – from Anais Jourden
