Paris-based unisex footwear BOTH presented it’s first womenswear collection during the recently finished Paris Fashion Week. The Spring Summer 2019 Made In Collection was inspired by China’s tradition and culture. Beijing-based artist and photographer Luo Yang captured BOTH‘s SS19 campaign.
SPRING SUMMER 2019 COLLECTIONS
“The both creative team experimented with new color palettes and inventive nishes that nod to emblematic Chinese codes for the SS19 “Made In” collection. Chinese heritage and iconic components of the country’s rich traditions and culture inspired the line. References range from the colorful dragon costumes worn for Chinese New Year and textural colors of Asian ceramics to the blue jackets worn by workers in the Both factory and the stitched soles of traditional cloth slippers.
A bold and graphic color palette of red and black or grey, blue and green combined with accents of mirrored gold leather and reective fabric details on the Gao runner. Softer more feminine versions sport baby pink accents run throughout the collection. Last season’s bestseller, the Gao, is revamped for SS19 in a knee-high and thigh-high colorful multi-strap gladiator boot with ashes of gold nylon or soft touches of baby pink. Another thigh-high platform boot comes in rubber patchwork or full canvas versions with an elastic garter belt detail. Also blending the notions of traditional China and streetwear is an impressive platform low top sneaker made entirely from gilded rubber with a golden vinyl upper.“
