Fashion designer Alessandro Michele celebrates the Year of the Pig with Gucci‘s 35-item Capsule Collection dedicated to the Chinese New Year. The collection features various pig motifs, one designed by Gucci and the other is Walt Disney cartoon characters that first appeared in the animated United Artists short film Three Little Pigs, produced in 1933. The collection features women’s and men’s ready-to-wear pieces as well as luggage, small leather goods, shoes and accessories.
Fashion photographer Frank Lebon captured Gucci‘s Chinese New Year advertising campaign featuring models Achok, Delphi Mcnicol, Eun Sang, Ewan Murray, Fisher Smith, Mae Lapres, and Unia Pakhomova. Art direction by Christopher Simmonds.
“Women’s brightly coloured pajamas, an intarsia knitwear piece, t-shirts and sweatshirts feature the Gucci designed character, as do scarves, beanies, socks and men’s knitted cardigans and t-shirts. Walt Disney’s Three Little Pigs instead appear on patches adorning ACE sneakers and Gucci Supreme backpacks, tote bags and wallets, as well as on a women’s oversize denim shirt, men’s shirts and a lightweight blouson. An exclusive watch also captures the Three Little Pigs on its dial.
Additionally, the original Disney poster has been printed on a white cotton t-shirt and woven on a sweater. To complete the offer, an exclusive eyewear style has also been created, reinterpreting one of the House’s hexagonal shapes in a red shade. Finally, in a play on the saying that “pigs might fly”, there are three fashion jewellery pieces featuring a pig with wings in coloured resin and metal with an aged gold finish. Two are brooches and one is a cuff bracelet enriched with crystals.“
