adidas Originals by Alexander Wang returns for a fifth season prepared for Spring Summer 2019. Captured by photographer Johnny Dufort, the campaign is styled and shot as an authentic, ‘80s-era dance-fitness instructional video, featuring model Dakota Moore.
Having remixed and repurposed the codes of the sports pioneer, Wang invents a new form of exercise entirely. And it starts in the club. Known as much for his playful aesthetic as his party-ready spirit, Wang mixes ‘80s-era athleticism with his signature element of pre-styling to define a genre of clothing he calls “club leisure”—clothes for the turn up and the get down. These performance-inspired garments blend fashion and function and are equally suited to the club and the gym. If clubbing is a sport, this is the gear that aids in the sculpting of a flawless Wangbody. Wang’s vision of powerful femininity is evident in every piece of sport-inspired apparel. At the same time, Wang draws on the streetwear aesthetic that has fueled the adidas collaboration for five seasons. – from adidas Originals x Alexander Wang
The collection is infused with a series of nostalgic graphics, featuring phrases “Wangbody,” and “adidas Pro Form Advanced Workout” on tank tops, t-shirts, hoodies and joggers, as well as the sleek black bodysuit and matching compression shorts. The color palette includes hot pink, seafoam green, and bright yellow.
Footwear sees the launch of a new low-cut silhouette: the AW Wangbody Run, which features a ’90s-inspired leather upper atop a BOOST™ midsole and a rubber outsole inspired by the adidas Marathon TR.
Meanwhile, the AW Bball Soccer and the AW Bball get refreshed in new, softer colorways—chalk pearl for the former, clear pink for the latter.
adidas Originals and Alexander Wang Season 5 drops on April 20 at select retailers and adidas Originals and Alexander Wang flagship locations, as well as both brands’ e-commerce sites.
