For Spring Summer 2020, Austrian designer Rebekka Ruétz enchants us with a highly powerful, courageous and vibrant collection. It was, without any doubt, one of our highlight shows we visited during Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week Berlin. What might have contributed to that, was its highly unique character, the incredible energy behind, but also her strong message to strengthen female rights. For that purpose, women are supporting, uplifting and celebrating each other. Gone are the days in which women were competing with each other. Courageous slogans, such as “#Let’s Lead Not Follow“, “#Riots Not Diets” or “#Race Human“, underlined that powerful message. They were, furthermore, paired in the most vivid way- for instance with long, floating skirts or pieces in neon colours.

What certainly stays out about this line and stays in mind is the bold, vibrant colour cocktail. Neon colours play a central role in this collection and they are used repeatedly- for instance in chartreuse, lime, lemon, eye- popping pink and salmon. These colour choice can be interpreted as a celebration of life and femininity in all its aspects. It does, moreover, embody pure joie de vivre. Additionally, a bunch of other strong nuances is applied, for example orange, scarlet, turqoise, azur blue, magenta and peach. Classic tones don’t play a central role, however they are used as well, such as pewter, sheer white and night black. When being paired with flashy tones, they often build thrilling contrasts. Simply stunning!
The collection embodies a clear message: you can dress in the most flashiest, brightest ways, and still be a feminist. You can celebrate fashion, while fighting for womens’ rights. The cuts of this collection are highly inspiring to observe, as they contain a huge variety: everything you can imagine, becomes real. Therefore, there is a perfect piece for every woman in this line. Long, floating cuts are incredibly flattering the female silhouete. Albeit also a bunch of figure-accentuating shapes can be noticed. Paired with “Don’t mess with me-” sneakers, the message is mostly one: incredibly powerful!
The prints are fun to observe. They are made for women who don’t take themselves or their way of dressing too seriously. Some pieces seem to be artistically painted, while on others zebra- and lips- pattern give the looks their ultra- cool approach.
The hair of the models is worn in a highly nonchalantly way, open and with a touch of sleek-look optics. The make-up is focused on the eyes, which are kept in smokey- eyes optics.
The following partners supported the show: SKECHERS, BIJOU BRIGITTE, KAUFHAUS TYROL, ALFI, MISS LASHES, INTERSPORT PREGENZER, MICHALE PFANDLER.
Having that powerful collection in mind, we cannot wait to inject any of these vibrant pieces into our Spring Summer 2020 wardrobe! Thank you very much, Rebekka Ruétz, for having us in your show!
