Discover LI-NING Autumn Winter 2021.22 Model, Remodel Collection, that was inspired by the art of restoration, presented with a mixed-media event, as part of Shanghai Fashion Week. The collection merges classical Chinese design with modern pop-culture elements, and references from multiple revolutionary creative movements of the past fifty years, and reinterprets them in a new and modern way.
FALL WINTER 2021 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
At Li-Ning, we understand history and the past as essential to navigating the present and the future. With this in mind, this season we were led by a curiosity for art restoration as well as a sincere love of history’s many cultural and creative movements. Drawing upon our own brand heritage and passion for the past, we revisited classic and accepted design references and stylistic tropes to create a collection of remixed edits, one that, we hope, feels both familiar yet completely new in execution. – Mr. Li
“This creative transference is immediately evident in Li-Ning’s usage of mixed-media construction, for example, in the way it fuses multiple fabrics through irregular seaming, resulting in misaligned panels and asymmetric hemlines. Li-Ning varies its garment construction and finishing details from crudely deconstructed and rough-hewn to “proper” and refined. Select pieces make use of exposed “Frankenstein” stitching or single-needle hand embroidery, in a mimicking of simple clothing repair techniques…or binding rope. Across genders, the color palette is high on contrast, with multiple looks articulated purely in black and white, while others incorporate tones of light green, pure beige, and signal red. An essential facet of this season’s narrative, pattern and print harken back to ancient Chinese pottery. Realized in black and white, they now generate a modern, street-wise energy.” – form Li-Ning
