Luxury house MAX MARA presented their Resort 2022 Womenswear Collection, that explores the golden age of travel, with a fashion show held at the Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa in Ischia. The collection was inspired by Truman Capote’s Local Color book – that includes travel journal-style essays on cities and countries Capote had lived in or visited. For the Resort 2022 season, Max Mara reimagines mid-century silhouettes and fuses them with sportswear codes to bring modern and relaxed go-anywhere elegance. The brand’s iconic 101801 coat is reworked in a techno-luxe jersey that’s perfect for the change of season. Inspired by the colors and landscape of the Italian geraniums that grow on the island of Ischia, the collection also features a series of clashing patterns in the cheery blush-to-pink-to-scarlet spectrum. Fashion film directed by Ginevra Elkann.

“Max Mara rewrites a chapter from the life of those legendary ladies who every season would descend on Paris to curate their wardrobes from the handy headquarters of the Plaza Athénée. There were elegant lunches at the Ritz and suppers at Maxim’s which are still talked about fifty years later. And, whilst that wardrobe was whisked together, a little downtime at a rocky retreat by the Mediterranean. Max Mara pictures days filled with expeditions to hunt down coveted artisanal footwear and straw baskets, ‘spaghettatas’ on board the yachts of industrial magnates, and nights spent rocking and rolling with the great and good in off-duty mode.” From Max Mara
Ischia is a stunning island, in some ways, still wild and genuine. It’s where many artists have taken refuge. With its wonderful culture and nature, I think it’s the perfect place to escape to from a hectic city life. This is what I have based the film on: on the idea of working women who come to spend a weekend with their friends in Ischia, in a magnificent location that conjures up the real Italy.
