Fashion brand AREA presented their Fall Winter 2021.22 campaign featuring the striking Jumbo Janet lensed by fashion photographer Zoe Natale Manella. In charge of styling was Danielle Emerson, with set design from Giulia Munari, casting direction Bert Martirosyan, creative production by Kareem Burk, and production by Squalo Produzioni. Beauty is work of hair stylist Andrew Guida, makeup artist Giulia Cigarini, and manicurist Roberta Rodi. The collection explores similarities between restriction and softness. Designer duo Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Pansczczyk researched history of corsetry, created for support in the 1400’s, misused restrictively in the early 20th century, and celebrated now as a reclamation of femininity and confidence. The collection also explores the conservative and restrictive workwear styles that became playful and erogenous.
“In exploring softness, we connected remotely with Chinese designer Dingyun Zhang. Interested in each other’s techniques we wanted to collaborate on a range of luxe outerwear by contrasting AREA’s signature crystal embroidery with Dingyun’s XXL down puffers. Starting with a jacket and vest, we expanded the range to a puffer bra and skirt trimmed with baroque and lattice motifs.” – Beckett Fogg & Piotrek Panszcyzk
