Fashion brand N°21 presented their Pre-Fall 2022 Women’s and Fall Winter 2022.23 Men’s Collections that explore a peaceful coexistence between ideas and opposing ideas such as glamour and minimalism. The Synthesis collection offers modern take on 1990s fashion, and it also explores elements of punk and gothic culture. Fashion photographer Raffaele Cerulo captured the lookbook featuring models Jenny Sinkaberg, Yuki, Nina de Bruijn, Tia Wan, Jacob Elinghof , Roberto, Federico, and Valery. In charge of art direction was NSS Factory, with casting direction from Shaun Beyen. Beauty is work of hair stylist Simone Prusso, and makeup artist Luciano Chiarello.
PRE-FALL 2022 COLLECTIONS

I created a synthesis of both references and genres by using the principle of communicating vessels: it’s as if, in order to coexist, the maximalist glamour and the minimalism of the ‘90s became liquid to permeate one another while contemporaneously meeting the punk aspects and technological advances of textile research. In this sense, I think the union of these elements describes the modernity that’s taking shape in present times – Alessandro dell’Acqua, creative director of N21.

“The minimalist feel gives way to wool or sequin bustier dresses, to white & black zebra coats, to knit & tulle bodysuits under extra large severity-elegance puffer jackets that strike a keen contrast with the ultrasoft thick wool loop stitch coats. And more still, to trompe l’oeil dresses that conceal mannish pants; pantsuits that have little jackets in raw-edge boiled jersey or that are cut from a bright red lace with tulle overlay and are worn solely with pink lace bra underneath. A timid hint of vintage emerges in the evening dresses where accenting the sense of glamour are crêpe de chine and satin, or a fabulous ruffle all along the plunging neckline. Equally glam is la petite robe noire, aka the little black dress.” – from N°21
