Fashion designer Jameel Mohammed presented KHIRY Fall Winter 2022.23 Collection as a part of IMG/Endeavor’s Color of Change show, on February 13th, at Spring Studios during the ongoing New York Fashion Week. The Fights Reveal Futilities collection is a continuation of the story line from last season’s Flights, Fights, and Fantasies show, an exploration of the tensions between the various options of escapism in the struggle for Black liberation. For this season, designer wanted to make a statement about the situational utility and frequent futility of political violence as a strategy for creating durable freedom, exploring the transcendent highs and crushing lows of Black liberation fighters throughout history. The looks explore the relationship between peace and control, freedom and security, liberation and repression.
FALL WINTER 2022.23 COLLECTIONS
The presentation and performance piece serve as an examination of the history of political violence, and questions the separation between that history and the vulnerable peace we strive to maintain today. – from KHIRY
