Following this months store release of YEEZY GAP Engineered by BALENCIAGA reports started swirling around about the end of the collaboration. The collaboration between two very good friends and designers, Kanye West and Demna Gvasalia has been announced in February, showing 25 looks exploring the intersection of music, art and culture. The release of the collection even brought out a custom made Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga van which drove through Miami, Los Angeles and Chicago bringing piles of clothing into commercial-sized fabric bags and dumpsters for guests to parse through. Also, Demna designed a rollout of a mobile game consept which allowed fans to avatarize themselves in head-to-toe Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga pieces. The collection is now available at Gap and Balenciaga stores, but will this be its first and last drop?
According to New York Times, Balenciaga’s Creative Director Demna Gvasalia announced that the partnerhsip is over. This doesn’t mean that the pieces from the collection will not get their release date nor that they won’t be restocked. Demna stated for the New York Times that the collection was a starting point for Ye’s Yeezy brand. Giving that the frenzy around the release is huge, it surely is a good starting point for Ye and his future endeavours. Does this mean we’ll get a new Yeezy Gap Engineered by collection? We’ll just have to patiently wait and see what Ye has in store for us.
