The Berlin Fashion Summit which was funded by the Senate for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises reunited industry innovators and sustainability change-makers for its fourth edition.
This time more than 1900 visitors participated in this event which lasted three days. During that summit that focused on sustainability, international experts came together to discuss their innovative ideas, experiences and proposed solutions. The aim was to find solutions and ideas for the fashion business which improve it into a more sustainable way. One of the main themes was the use of regenerative materials. However also restoring biodiversity and ecosystems was a central theme. Additionally, the creation of a new culture of inclusion and equity was discussed. The reimagination of workspaces as ecosystems to grow healthy creative economies played a major role as well.
As location to host the talks and exhibitions that were on the schedule, Colosseum Berlin, was chosen. The theme of this event was “Fashion for Positive Impact: Regenerative Transformation“. This edition of 202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit was a real success. We are happy to see how this event brought together a growing international audience from diverse communities, and to see such high engagement in the discussions on stage. The atmosphere felt unique for new connections, collaborations, and ideas to unfold. – declared Magdalena Schaffrin, studio MM04
On the first day the impact of fashion in the biosphere was observed. In addition to that, cutting-edge sustainable materials were introduced. For the first time the conference also focused on the topic of regenerative culture. This topic focuses on clothing that supports circularity – which means you either use recycled materials or you use them through regenerative agriculture. That way you avoid polluting the planet with what is left from your clothing.
On the second day the main topic were technosphere and metasphere. Digitization was observed as an area to apply regenerative transformation.
Worth of mentioning is also the fact the fourth edition of the ‘202030 – The Berlin Summit‘ also focused on digital fashion. The panel “Pluralize Fashion” gained a lot of interest. In this discussion fashion as a tool for equity was discussed.
What might be interesting for everyone who missed this event live is the fact the ‘202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit‘ podcast will be launched soon. It will recap the content from this edition. The fifth edition of the ‘202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit‘ will be held from the 16th until the 18th of January 2023 and will invite once more sustainability experts to exchange new ideas, projects and thoughts.
