Fashion house JIL SANDER presented the Pre-Fall 2023 Collection with a lookbook captured by fashion photogarpher Davit Giorgadze. In charge of art direction was Heiko Keinath, with hair by David Harborow, makeup by Laura Dominique and casting by Julia Lange. For the collection, designers Lucie and Luke Meier introduced a new couture: modern, glamorous, and utilitarian in equal measure, performed in a lighthearted play of original shapes, materials, colours, and details. The colour palette is bold and varied: white, butter, pale green and blue, pink, peach, yellow, sky blue, orange, raspberry, red, cocoa, plum, dark green, violet, and black.
PRE-FALL 2023 COLLECTIONS
The two prominent silhouettes of the collection accentuate its attitude: precisely sartorial and generously relaxed. How do materials work and how they hold shapes? One silhouette is airy and voluminous, mostly in silk, cotton, recycled nylon, and viscose, with round-shouldered shirts and jackets, and exaggerated shorts and skirts. The other, mostly knitted, is lean and very close to the body. A 3-piece grey wool pile suit (coat, trousers and vest), a short black tailleur, capes in black, butter, or pale yellow, often with raw cuts and edges, balance the sense of ease with rigor; an acknowledgment of tradition with a spirit of nonchalance. – from Jil Sander
The thorough choice and diversity of materials are always front and centre at Jil Sander. Double faced cashmere for long dresses, coats, and pullovers; wax cotton for a raspberry coat with a contrasting black leather collar; a bright red reversible shearling coat; a crispy papery leather; rubber; a supple sky blue leather down gilet and a large, enveloping, mustard one; the signature blend of viscose, linen, and silk. Pleats in the exaggerated sleeves of shirts; broderie anglaise; embroidered plastrons; flower prints; the ajour joints of a striking ivory dress with a plain silk bustier and the bottom skirt in a floral-patterned Guipure; a plum wool suit with exaggerated lapels; white and black feathers, also in earrings and necklaces.
