I’m actively trying to make sure that I’m present, I’m hoping [the album – The Age of Pleasure] encourages people to find simple pleasures. For me, sometimes that’s reading a book before 6am, sometimes it’s having a party and being able to come dry and leave wet, kiss somebody that you just met, you know? – Janelle Monae
We’re still not where I want to be, but I think even since I started in music there’s so much more representation now. Seeing Blackpink headline Coachella… I could not have imagined that as a teenager – it’s huge. It’s nice to not have that pressure and just enjoy all the art that Asian people are making. – Rina Sawayama
