Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of LOEWE, and Luca Guadagnino, the brand’s longstanding collaborator, have joined forces to produce ‘I Dreamt of LOEWE,’ a short film showcasing a preview of the new Spring Summer 2024 men’s collection. The two-minute film, which takes place at David Zwirner New York during the exhibition of Franz West‘s Echolalia, 2010, takes viewers on a psychedelic dream voyage. Models Andrea Isidori, Elliott McDean, Malick Anderson, and Adrians Smats appear in the film, which unfolds as Andrea, while sleeping on a sofa, is transported to a fantastical dream world populated by West’s vivid and larger-than-life sculptures. As the dream progresses, new characters appear, culminating in a bass-driven climax. The characters, dressed in the SS24 collection, strike uncanny poses that highlight the season’s elongated silhouettes, tactile fabrics, and crystal-adorned sunglasses. In charge of styling was Benjamin Bruno, with casting direction from Ashley Brokaw, and production by Emanuela Matranga. Hair styling and makeup are work of Allie Smith. Cinematography by Edu Grau, editing by Marco Costa. Soundtrack ‘4 Floors of Whores’ by Tzusing.
The men’s SS24 runway show is scheduled for Saturday, June 24 at 12pm CET in Paris and will be live streamed on loewe.com and LOEWE channels.
Born in Palermo on August 10, 1971, Luca Guadagnino is a multifaceted artist with experience as a director, producer, screenwriter, architect, and designer. In 2018, he was nominated for an Academy Award, and in 2022, he won the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival. Presently, he resides in Milan.
Austrian artist Franz West (1947–2012) developed a unique aesthetic that incorporated both high and low cultural references and emphasized social interaction as an integral component of his work. Although he is best known as a sculptor, his body of work also included drawing, collage, video, and installation, using materials such as papier-mâché, furniture, cardboard, plaster, and found imagery. Through the playful manipulation of common materials and imagery, West produced objects that redefined art as a social experience, inviting viewers to interact with the artwork and with one another.
The contemporary art gallery David Zwirner has locations in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, and Hong Kong. Over seventy artists and estates are represented by the gallery, which has been a venue for innovative and pioneering exhibitions across various media and genres.
