British luxury house Burberry has recently awarded Christine Wilkinson with the prestigious Thomas Burberry Prize for Print, which is one of the nine awards presented by the esteemed Royal Academy of Arts. This annual prize, named after the brand’s founder, exemplifies Burberry‘s continuous commitment to nurturing and supporting young British talents in the field of modern arts and culture. Christine Wilkinson, the honoree, was chosen by Burberry‘s Chief Creative Officer, Daniel Lee, and the renowned entrepreneur and creative Grace Ladoja. Wilkinson will receive £20,000 to support and further her artistic practice. In keeping with the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition theme of “Only Connect,” the winning artist displayed a stunning print named “WASHING MACHINE 2.”
The Thomas Burberry Prize further reinforces the longstanding partnership between Burberry and the Royal Academy of Arts. This year marks the third consecutive year that Burberry has been an official supporter of the Royal Academy of Arts’ Summer Exhibition Preview Party. Additionally, Burberry announced the launch of the RA Schools Scholarship Grant & Bursary. This project will cover the fees of a student’s enrolment at the RA Schools as well as a bursary to help with living expenses in London. This illustrates Burberry‘s unwavering dedication to supporting the growth and development of emerging artists.
