Gucci‘s new creative director Sabato De Sarno unveiled the first look at his debut campaign for the Italian brand starring supermodel Daria Werbowy. In charge of photography was David Sims, with styling from Alastair McKimm. The Gucci High Jewelry 2023 campaign, shot at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont, features Daria Werbowy in a black “GG” swimsuit and statement gold jewelry. This isn’t the first time Gucci features Canadian-Ukrainian supermodel in their campaigns, she was also the face of Gucci‘s Fall Winter 2004 campaign. Designer Sabato de Sarno will present his first collection for Gucci, on Friday, September 22nd, at the upcoming Milan Fashion Week.
Sarano wrote on his instagram “Daria, we started together in this business in 2003, and here you are with me at the beginning of this new adventure. David, you pictured her at the debut, now you are behind the camera for her comeback.“
Supermodel Daria Werbowy graced the covers of more than 60 fashion magazines, including over 20 issues of Vogue, starred in campaigns for top brands such as Celine, Prada, Gucci, Chanel, Versace, and Saint Laurent, and she holds the record for opening and closing the most shows in one season. She also had a contract with one of the leading luxury beauty brands Lancome (estimated to be about a $1million per year). She worked with fashion photographers such as Helmut Newton, Steven Meisel, Inez and Vinoodh, David Sims, and Juergen Teller to name a few.
