As location for their Spring Summer 2024 collection titled ‘FASSBENDER.Original‘, Hamburg-based ready-to-wear label FASSBENDER, chose Crown Prince’s Palace (‘Kronprinzenpalais‘). This historic monument which is situated in Berlin Mitte, next to the ‘Staatsoper Unter den Linden’ at the prestigious boulevard ‘Unter den Linden’, was the perfect venue for the presentation for this elegant, everlasting collection. Our readers will remember this label, as we had shown two of their creations that were exhibited as part of ‘Der Berliner Salon‘. The presentation of this Spring Summer 2024 collection, which was displayed in form of a fashion film, emphasized the sustainable and timeless character of this elegant line. That way you can view this film everywhere again and again.
SPRING SUMMER 2024 COLLECTIONS
With the collections’ theme, FASSBENDER refers to the meaning of an original: it is one-of-a-kind and can not be replaced. In addition to that, it describes two concepts: on the one hand the original and authentic that has always been there. On the other hand the new, unseen inspiration which raises the bar. It is exactly this pairing of contrary influences which makes this line so incredibly inspiring to observe. To implement this topic, the FASSBENDER team reduces its precious pieces to a minimum. Then, they are creatively reconstructed and appear in a new form. That way timeless classics are presented in innovative silhouettes. Furthermore, common cuts appear in totally new optics. FASSBENDER creatively plays with tailoring which always seems functional and comfortable. Worth of mentioning is also the fact the experimenting with various lengths is highly interesting to keep an eye on.
The presentation started with a fashion film. In this motion- picture, which has been directed in Paris by Jan Philipzen, you see several models walking and running through the imposing boulevards of the French capital city. When they rush over the zebra crossings, they are often hectically observing their surroundings. Always dressed in FASSBENDER, of course. Elements of the contemporary life and a fast moving society speed up their way. A suitcase full of clothes gets unpacked and that way the model focuses only on her way. When they focus solely on the clothes, they slow down, enjoy the city and their environment. That way a very special facility is created. At the end, you see them confidently walking around the Seine before they meet each other, in timeless, always wearable, contemporary looks. With having chosen Paris as a film setting, FASSBENDER chose a city which plays (among other things) a leading role in arts, culture and fashion worldwide.
This range radiates a very blithe, timeless and always wearable character. The silhouettes are often kept rather loose to underline the feelgood factor of these outfits. In addition to that, the creations always stay wearable and are therefore the perfect addition for your everyday wardrobe. When discovering the looks clearly, you will recognize menswear elements are harmoniously united with feminine approaches, for instance an over-sized shirt is worn over a layering dress. On the one hand the creations look clean, on the other hand nostalgic details remind us of past and coming summer days. Summertime, and the living is easy…
The range of colours of this line comprises of numerous classy, timeless tones such as white, black, tan, beige and mahogany. In addition to that colour palette, some refreshing, strong hues are applied, for example azure blue, chartreuse, ruby and crimson. It is anew exactly this pairing of classy and contemporary influences which makes this mix so inspiring to follow. Several looks of this line are kept tonal, whereas in others a few shades are mixed and matched together. However Christina Fassbender never pairs too many colours in one look and therefore the overall images of the looks are never too loud and always stay wearable.
What stays in mind is the very special detail-awareness of this line. For that effect, the designer took her inspiration from the traditional weaving techniques of hatters in Panama. The pairing of this manual work, detail-awareness and leisure on the one hand and the colour choice and innovative tailoring emphasizes the unique energy of this charming collection.
Being significant for this line is the connection between luxury and mindset, the quality and personal values of a woman that appreciates beauty just as the environment. The sustainable presentation full of detail-awareness underlines this harmonious overall picture.
