Theory has made an exciting announcement this morning – Marco Gentile, an industry stalwart with an impressive resume spanning two decades in luxury fashion, has been appointed the CEO of Theory UK & Europe. Gentile’s journey in fashion reads like a guide to the crème de la crème of luxury brands. He ascends to his new role from Chloe?, where his title of Chief Commercial Officer saw him at the helm of global retail and wholesale operations. Before his tenure at Chloe?, Burberry benefitted from his leadership for over twelve years, culminating in his role as President EMEIA. His extensive background also includes a decade within the distinguished Kering Group.
As Theory seeks to grow its digital and physical presence in the European market, this appointment could not have been more timely. With the recent launch of their stores in iconic locations such as Covent Garden, Battersea Power Station, as well as the prestigious Regent Street, the brand solidifies its position with a network that encompasses five stores and three concessions, strategically spread between London and Paris. In addition to its direct retail touchpoints, Theory’s collections are also accessible across prominent department stores and multi-brand retailers throughout the UK and Europe.
Dinesh Tandon, Global CEO, commented on the appointment, saying, “We are pleased to welcome Marco to Theory UK & Europe. His wealth of experience in the luxury space in this market will be pivotal as we focus on continued growth and expansion in the region.“
Echoing the enthusiasm, Gentile himself added, “Theory is an iconic brand with a storied reputation and history in the US and beyond. I’m looking forward to working with the teams in the UK and Europe to continue to identify a strategic vision for this important pillar of growth for the brand.”
Now based in Theory’s Regent Street headquarters in London, Gentile has officially assumed his new role.
Founded in 1997, Theory transformed the contemporary fashion landscape with its unique take on the urban uniform. While its roots lie in New York City, the brand, a prominent figure in Fast Retailing Group’s portfolio, is celebrated globally for its collections that seamlessly blend luxury with accessibility, renowned for their impeccable fits, pioneering fabrics, and timeless designs.
