In a heartfelt return to its origins, Palomo Spain has unveiled its Spring Summer 2024 collection, an anthology that echoes Alejandro’s rich Spanish heritage while navigating the deepest corners of his romantic and sexual fantasies. Titled “Cruising in the Rose Garden“, the collection beckons us into a world pulsating with hidden encounters, a sanctuary where identities unfurl freely, unburdened by judgment. In this Eden, individuals find solace and exhilaration in each other’s embrace, cherishing the kaleidoscope of human desire in its purest form.
SPRING SUMMER 2024 COLLECTIONS
The duality of human nature stands at the focal point of Alejandro’s vision – a primal entity driven by lust, juxtaposed with a being that seeks romance and nurtures a feminine sensitivity. This complex dance between love and desire resonates deeply with elements that have perennially inspired Alejandro: the richness of history, the vibrancy of Andalusian folklore, the heartbeat of street culture, and the innocence intertwined with youthful pop phenomena. It crafts a narrative where contradictions harmonize within oneself, fostering an environment where forbidden pursuits pave the way to explore deepest desires and celebrate unshackled freedom.
A nostalgic journey punctuated with refreshing perspectives, the Palomo Spain Spring Summer 2024 collection revives the brand’s iconic creations, infusing them with a fresh spirit. The collection unfurls a symphony of contrasts, presenting a rich tableau of silhouettes and fabrics that play a sensual game of hide and seek. It weaves a tapestry where baggy jeans and mini shorts share space with babydoll dresses and cascading capes. Here, the finesse of silk, lace, and linen entwines with the bold resilience of leather and denim. The color palette portrays the nuanced moments of twilight, a sanctuary where hearts seek refuge, characterized by soft violets, pinks, and blues clashing with the deep sensuality evoked by reds and blacks.
Reflecting on his journey, Alejandro shares, “After presenting a Fall Winter collection that spoke about the freedom of childhood and a naïve approach to gender and clothing, it was the most natural process for me to react against that concept and focus on a more sexualized idea of a character that is now grown and aware of its power of attraction. This time I wanted to reflect on who I am now and allow myself to dive into my most romantic and sexual fantasies while still maintaining my love for storytelling. I also think that as a Spanish designer I have a responsibility to show my heritage and transmit my roots and the spirit of my culture.“
The runway resonated with a musical note that held a special place in Alejandro’s heart, aiming to forge an ambiance that was both mysterious and stirring. Adorned with flamenco undertones that hint at his roots, the modern mix seamlessly integrated chants from “Lole y Manuel” and traditional claps that echoed the passionate flamenco nights where art, culture, and desire melded into one, transporting attendees to a realm far removed from the hustle and bustle of New York.
Adding a sparkling note to the event was the unveiling of an exclusive collaboration with the Spanish accessories brand, Bimba y Lola. This synergic venture bore fruit to several full looks and accessories, spotlighting a special capsule of bags and accessories, including a revamped version of Bimba y Lola’s renowned “Tote Pocket Bag”.
