Fashion house Lanvin unveiled its Spring Summer 2024 Collection, that blends the brand’s rich history and innovative vision, on Thursday, September 28th, during the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. The 133-year-old house of Lanvin finds itself reinvigorated, presenting bold perspectives and material innovations. The collection stands as a tribute to the house’s timeless heritage, highlighting the exceptional craftsmanship of its atelier, all the while expressing admiration for its revolutionary founder, Jeanne Lanvin.
SPRING SUMMER 2024 COLLECTIONS
Drawing from the brand’s vast advertising archives, the season finds its color inspiration in the stylized and surrealist photographs of Guy Bourdin. These deep and richly saturated hues lay the groundwork for a palette that perfectly merges sophistication with a modern pop aesthetic. With a keen eye on the past, Studio Lanvin revisits the interwar period of the 1920s and 30s, an era that marked the beginning of the modern age. The aim was to encapsulate Jeanne Lanvin’s unique touch and vision. As a result, the designs breathe new life into the foundational codes of the house: an unwavering dedication to silhouette and design, masterful hand embroidery techniques, and a harmonious blend of both masculinity and femininity. There’s a heartening romantic flair to the collection, but it also exudes a contemporary vibe, introducing garments that resonate with a novel form of elegance – encapsulated in their mantra, ‘le chic ultime’.

The versatility of the collection shines through as it covers a gamut of moments in daily life – be it the refined finesse of tailored daywear, the charm of social and cocktail attire, or the grandeur of formal eveningwear. These pieces are a testament to the unparalleled technical prowess and artistry of the Lanvin studio and atelier. The Lanvin Spring Summer 2024 Collection is painted with contrasts: juxtaposing the old with the new, fusing tradition with innovation, and blending firmness with fluidity. This collection is a celebration of French elegance, representing an ever-evolving vision rooted in a 133-year legacy.
Further elucidating Jeanne Lanvin’s essence, the womenswear pieces touch upon three distinct moments: Vestiaire de Jour, Instant Mondain, and Grand Soir. The designs display intricate details, from the modern asymmetry of the “Les Trois Valses” dress to the “Coeur” ingeniously reimagined as a bolero with exquisite embroidery. The dresses echo Lanvin’s iconic “Robe de Style” silhouette, pushing boundaries of proportions to redefine contemporary femininity.

As for menswear, Lanvin redefines modern elegance. Drawing from the 1970s, the collection plays with sharp shoulder lines against the softness of fluid silk shirts. The coordinated pieces showcase a mix of full-length trousers and silk shorts. While maintaining a relaxed and comfortable fit, the designs do not compromise on style, with minimalist pieces given character through vibrant colors, Art Nouveau prints, and intricate embroidered lapels.
The accessories complete the vision of ultimate chic. The Marguerite brooch becomes a focal point, while the Cat Bag sees novel reinterpretations in ombré and crystal-embellished avatars. The Séquence clutch, versatile in its use, and the iconic ballerinas, along with masculine slippers, serve as reminders of effortless style and grace.
