Fashion house Chloé unveiled its Holiday 2023 collection that explores the brand’s illustrious past, reviving an iconic look from the Fall Winter 1983 collection originally created by the legendary Karl Lagerfeld. The Maison reimagines Lagerfeld’s rhinestone-studded arrow, a motif that graced a black jersey dress, giving it a contemporary shimmer for the season’s festivities. The collection also pays homage to other Chloé symbols like the embellished guitar from Lagerfeld’s Spring/Summer 1983 designs and the oversized ribbon bow that became synonymous with the brand during Phoebe Philo’s creative direction.
The festive line-up breathes new life into Lagerfeld’s dynamic arrow motif, with rhinestones and crystals injecting a festive vigor into ready-to-wear pieces, bags, shoes, and jewelry. A standout black column dress worn by Maude Apatow at the Met Gala 2023, celebrating Lagerfeld, sets the tone for the collection’s embellishments. Evening dresses in textured wool-crepe, a sleek wool-crepe tuxedo with a sparkling arrow brooch, and other black wardrobe staples feature the arrowhead embroidery, echoing the athletic stripes that inspired Lagerfeld’s original design.

The collection’s accessories highlight the arrow motif on limited-edition leather bags, including the Penelope top-handle and micro flap bags, as well as a clutch, each requiring hours of meticulous beadwork. The Oli shoe line introduces the motif in a pump, a T-bar pump, and a sandal, bringing handcrafted glamour to the forefront. Chloé’s jewelry, using 60% deadstock beads, complements the collection with statement pieces featuring the arrow motif.

The embellished guitar motif offers a playful, multi-colored tribute across various items, including a black velvet mini dress with an asymmetric strap reminiscent of a guitar neck, showcasing Chloé’s whimsical side. Deadstock crepe-cady shirts and cotton T-shirts also feature the guitar embellishment, while velvet bows add a romantic flair to black dresses, tops, and trousers. The bows extend to the Oli sandals, pumps, and ballerina flats, as well as to a delicate brass jewelry collection, reinterpreted as gold-toned earrings and rings.
