K-pop group ITZY takes the digital cover story of W Korea Magazine‘s November 2023 edition lensed by fashion photographer Park Jongha. Itzy is a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. The group consists of members Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. Itzy debuted on February 12, 2019, with their single album “It’z Different”. Their debut was successful, winning them awards such as Rookie of the Year at several major music awards and achieving a “Rookie Grand Slam.”?
The members of Itzy had various pre-debut experiences, including appearances on reality shows and auditions for other entertainment companies. Chaeryeong, for instance, was part of JYP’s survival show “Sixteen” but didn’t make the final lineup for Twice. Yeji and Yuna joined JYP in 2015, and Lia initially auditioned for SM Entertainment before joining JYP?.
“It’z Different” was well-received, with its lead single “Dalla Dalla” incorporating elements of EDM and empowering lyrics, gaining success on music charts and YouTube. Following this, their extended play (EP) “It’z Icy”, released in July 2019, also achieved commercial success and music show wins?.
In 2020, Itzy embarked on a U.S. tour and released their second EP, “It’z Me”, exploring themes of freedom, self-confidence, and individuality. Their third EP, “Not Shy”, marked a shift in their lyrical themes?. In 2022, they expanded their international presence, releasing Japanese and English singles and announcing their first world tour?.
In 2023, Itzy continued to release new music, including their seventh EP “Kill My Doubt”, and announced their first Japanese-language studio album?.
