K-pop superstar and member of international sensation BTS, Jungkook has thrilled his fans once more with the unveiling of his latest music video for “Standing Next to You.” The video unveils a compelling story in which Jungkook finds himself in a chase after a mesmerizing yet mysterious woman, offering him the opportunity to showcase his exceptional dancing skills through intricate choreographed sequences.
“Whenever I performed on stage in front of my fans, that marked the golden moments in my life. Like many other singers, releasing albums and giving performances are the biggest driving forces for me, so I would like to continue creating these moments with our members. Our golden moments are not over … Once BTS reunites in 2025 (after serving in the military,) we will look really cool.” – Jungkook’
The music video accompanied the release of his first solo album Golden. The album features several prominent collaborations, with DJ Snake contributing to “Please Don’t Change” and Major Lazer on “Closer to You.” Additionally, songwriting credits go to Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes for “Yes or No” and “Hate You.” The album’s title, GOLDEN, is a nod to BTS leader RM, who affectionately referred to JK as a ‘golden maknae’ in BTS’s early days. GOLDEN comprises 11 diverse tracks, including “SEVEN,” offered in both clean and explicit versions, as well as “3D,” accompanied by eight other distinctive songs. Surpassing previous records, Jungkook’s inaugural single, “Seven,” raced past 1 billion streams on Spotify in a mere 108 days, outpacing Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers.”
In a heartfelt message to his supporters, Jungkook expressed his ambition to master various musical styles and become a multifaceted artist. He delved into his growth from the youngest member of BTS to a solo artist, aiming to infuse his current persona into his music.
In honor of his solo album, Jungkook is set to hold his inaugural solo concert, named “Golden Live On Stage,” later this month in Seoul, South Korea.
As the final BTS member to unveil a solo project, Jungkook’s “Golden” follows solo releases from J-hope, Jin, RM, Jimin, Suga, and Taehyung, painting a rich, variegated picture of BTS’s individual artistic journeys. While BTS members explore individual projects, fans eagerly await 2025, when BTS is set to reunite and resume their collective musical journey, which began in 2013.
After the massive success of debut single Seven featuring Latto, currently counting over 1 billion streams on Spotify alone, the expectations are massive for the release of Golden. Not only is this Jungkook’s first solo album he is the 1st K-Pop star to venture into releasing an entirely all-Egnlish album. This moment massively shifts the standing of K-Pop already taking a mainstream momentum around the globe.
