Luxury house Louis Vuitton unveiled its Cruise 2024 campaign starring actress Emma Laird and models Chu Wong, Mica Argañaraz, Valentina Castro, and Ida Heiner amidst the picturesque beauty of the Isola Bella gardens on the shores of Lake Maggiore. In charge of photography was Jamie Hawkesworth. The Cruise 2024 collection is an eclectic blend of styles that fuses the grandeur of baroque with the modern-day materials, much like the fabled Isola Bella floats between legend and actuality. Designer Nicolas Ghesquière has crafted a fresh take on modern femininity and its connection to an unapologetic romanticism within this contrasting concept. The designs morph from sea-inspired to earthy as they showcase sequins and silks that mimic aquatic life, transitioning to land where patterns bloom and silhouettes take on a three-dimensional life. This narrative is carried over into accessories, encapsulated by the introduction of the Monogram Dune and the vibrant reinterpretations of Épi leather.
For the brand’s Cruise 2024 show held at Isola Bella, the GO-14 handbag was reenvisioned, capturing the majesty of Lake Maggiore with a palette of serene colors laid over the storied Malletage pattern. This harks back to Nicolas Ghesquière’s inaugural show for Louis Vuitton in 2014, from which the GO-14 draws its inspiration and name, symbolizing the avant-garde ethos of the brand. Once a feature used to line the insides of travel trunks, the Malletage pattern is now a defining exterior trait of the GO-14, a homage to Louis Vuitton’s legendary travel heritage.
