The youngest member of BLACKPINK Lisa (Lalisa Manobal) takes the cover of Elle Taiwan Magazine‘s January 2024 edition lensed by fashion photographer Kim Hee June. In charge of styling was Nan Nist, who for the covers selected looks from Celine by Hedi Slimane. Beauty is work of hair stylist Lee Seonyeong, makeup artist Lee Myungsun, and manicurist Christina Conrad.
On Christmas Day, Lisa delighted fans with a special holiday gift: a cover of Britney Spears’ song. Announcing the release on her Instagram, Lisa shared, “Christmas present for my Blinks… Have a wonderful holiday,” before unveiling her Spears cover on her YouTube channel. The video features a romantic, holiday-themed cinematic escapade shot in the picturesque city of Paris.
The song Lisa covered, originally from Jive Records’ 2000 all-label holiday album “Platinum Christmas,” revives a nostalgic Britney Spears track. This album also featured other top artists of the era such as NSYNC, Santana, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys, and R. Kelly. “My Only Wish (This Year)” is Lisa’s first solo work since her 2021 “Lalisa” album and the non-LP single “SG” which she recorded with DJ Snake, Ozuna, and Megan Thee Stallion. Earlier this year, Lisa was also a featured guest on “Shoong!“, a track by South Korean singer-songwriter and dancer Taeyang.
This surprise release comes amidst significant developments for the group. BLACKPINK recently renewed their contract with YG Entertainment for group activities. However, it was announced today that the BLACKPINK members would not be renewing their individual contracts for solo activities with YG Entertainment. YG Entertainment released a statement confirming this decision, expressing their commitment to supporting BLACKPINK’s group endeavors while cheering on the members’ individual pursuits with warm hearts.
Lisa has also been rumored to be involved in the filming of the popular horror series “The Walking Dead.” Vogue Thailand fueled these speculations by reporting the possibility of the singer joining the show’s cast. This rumor was further heightened when the official Instagram page of “The Walking Dead” started following the K-pop star, creating a buzz among fans on social media.
