The eagerly awaited Season 3 of Bridgerton series is set to premiere this Spring – The first batch of four episodes premieres on May 16, followed by the second batch on June 13. Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, hints at significant character developments, especially between Colin and Penelope, as they navigate their evolving friendship.
Season 3 picks up in the aftermath of Season 2’s Featherington Ball, where Penelope is heartbroken after overhearing Colin’s dismissive comments about courting her. This season also explores the fallout of Penelope’s falling out with her best friend Eloise. The official synopsis reveals Penelope’s readiness to move on from her crush on Colin and her intent to find a husband who respects her independence and secret identity as Lady Whistledown.
Colin, portrayed by Luke Newton, returns from his travels with newfound confidence but is dismayed to find Penelope distancing herself from him. In an attempt to win back her friendship, he offers to help her gain confidence to attract suitors, only to find himself questioning his feelings for her.
The season promises complexity as Penelope struggles with her rift with Eloise, her rising prominence in the ton, and the challenges of keeping her secret identity.
The cast includes familiar faces such as Claudia Jessie, Luke Thompson, Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh, and others, along with the voice of Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown. Season 3 also introduces new characters played by Daniel Francis, James Phoon, and Sam Phillips.
The show, produced by Shondaland and helmed by showrunner Jess Brownell, continues to draw inspiration from Julia Quinn’s novels.
In addition to the series, “Bridgerton” has inspired a bridalwear line created in partnership with Netflix, Shondaland, and costume designer Lyn Paolo. The Bridgerton Wedding Collection, designed by Allure Bridals, features gowns that embody the romance of the series and offer hidden Bridgerton references, such as a bee and the initial ‘B’ on each dress. This collection, showcased at a runway show in December 2023, emphasizes inclusivity, aligning with the ethos of “Bridgerton.” The gowns are available worldwide, with prices ranging from $1,600 to $3,000.
