IKEA just introduced DAJLIEN, its latest limited collection focusing on home training. Comprising 19 versatile items, DAJLIEN is crafted to enhance everyday movement and foster healthy habits within the comfort of home. Set for release in January 2024, DAJLIEN shows IKEA’s commitment to facilitating accessible workouts in domestic spaces.
DAJLIEN’s inception stems from IKEA’s endeavor to address the hurdles of home exercising. By simplifying access to exercise, this collection embodies the ethos that daily activity should be attainable for all. DAJLIEN, named after the Småland-accented word for ‘daily’, mirrors this philosophy. Småland, as IKEA’s birthplace, holds a special place in the brand’s heritage. Insights for DAJLIEN were gleaned from home visits in global cities like New York, Chicago, London, and Shanghai. These insights revealed common workout challenges such as motivation, space constraints, and the intimidation of gym environments. The DAJLIEN line addresses these through its smart, adaptable design, offering a blend of function and style.
Sarah Fager, Designer at IKEA of Sweden, shares, “Not everyone feels safe or comfortable going to a gym and at home we often deal with small space and time constraints. DAJLIEN was born from the desire to find smart solutions that address these limitations and help people create a convenient and motivating place for exercise. We wanted to create smart, beautiful products to inspire and redefine training as a fun, easy and natural everyday activity.”
DAJLIEN’s approach is to merge practicality with aesthetic appeal. The collection spans from exercise mats and step-up boards to ring-shaped dumbbells, all in understated colors that integrate effortlessly into home settings. The highlight is the DAJLIEN bench, a versatile piece inspired by vintage gym equipment. It functions not only for exercise but also as a storage unit or a stylish coffee table. Beyond fitness, DAJLIEN includes recovery and relaxation items like air purifiers, yoga straps, kneepads, massage balls, and a Bluetooth speaker. The collection also features wearable comfort items like slippers and two unique ponchos.
Akanksha Deo, Designer at IKEA of Sweden talking about the IKEA Home Training Collection, adds, “DAJLIEN is all about supporting movement and helping people live more active lives at home. We have designed a collection that helps bridge the gap between home and active life, that recognizes that training can take many shapes and forms and that you don’t need a lot of space to do a simple workout.”
DAJLIEN’s global launch is eagerly anticipated for January 2024, available for six months or while stocks last. Customers are encouraged to check local market availability.
