Saint Laurent announced the launch of L’Atelier Maroquinerie, its new hub for accessory and leather goods innovation. This 28,700 square-meter facility, situated in Scandicci, Florence, is set to be a new standard of excellence, employing over 500 skilled artisans and technicians. At L’Atelier Maroquinerie, the focus is on groundbreaking research and development in materials and components, ensuring each piece embodies Saint Laurent’s iconic style and modern appeal. The site is dedicated to pioneering advanced technological solutions and novel processing methods, elevating the brand’s standards in material quality, production efficiency, and sustainability.
This new facility is not just a production site; it’s a creative space for crafting the brand’s prototypes, samples, and custom pieces for its most valued clients. These highly specialized items and intricate projects reflect the utmost technical expertise.
L’Atelier Maroquinerie plays a crucial role in expanding Saint Laurent’s leather goods and accessories divisions. Francesca Bellettini, Saint Laurent’s CEO, emphasizes its significance: “Bringing together the development of both accessories and leather goods, the atelier will be an environment for sharing expertise, generating ideas and encouraging experimentation” She envisions it as the birthplace of the world’s most sought-after leather goods and accessories.
Beyond creating prototypes and samples, the atelier also serves as a center for repairs and after-sales services, catering to European clients and setting standards for global service quality. It includes a specialized school for training new staff and advancing the skills of experienced workers.
The atelier, housed in the former “Palazzo delle Finanze” and revamped by CDP Real Asset SGR (CDP Group), represents a fusion of heritage and modernity. Bellettini expresses pride in the location: “We are very glad to have relocated and expanded the atelier in Scandicci, as we have long since recognised the artisanal and managerial skills of the people here – and the heritage of the region for outstanding craftsmanship. L’Atelier Maroquinerie will combine generations of knowledge with new levels of innovation,” With L’Atelier Maroquinerie, Saint Laurent is set to blend generations of knowledge with unprecedented innovation.
