Every season, fashion brands compete to feature well-known personalities in their advertising campaigns. This time, Saint Laurent has outdone itself, securing the legendary Diana Ross.
The campaign’s revelation came via Artistic Director Anthony Vaccarello‘s Instagram. The first glimpse shows Ross in an elegantly simple black halter-neck dress, her iconic curls flowing and makeup understated. Ross embodies the classic elegance that Saint Laurent exudes, making her the perfect face for the Spring 2024 collection.
Ross’s connection to Saint Laurent extends deep into the past. She’s been a supporter and friend of the label and its founder, Yves, since the 1970s. Her history with the brand includes appearances at Parisian shows and celebrated nights at Studio 54, dressed in YSL’s finest.
A memorable moment in Ross’s long-standing relationship with the brand was her appearance at the 2003 Met Gala. She dazzled in a sensual red gown by Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent, perfectly capturing the event’s “Goddess: The Classical Mode” theme.
This campaign cements the enduring bond between Ross and the iconic French label. Saint Laurent has a history of featuring unique and influential figures in its campaigns. Over the years, personalities like Keanu Reeves, Courtney Love, and John Waters have been captured by the brand’s regular photographer, David Sims.
This collaboration feels like a full-circle moment for Ross and the brand, harking back to her days at Studio 54, often seen in Yves Saint Laurent’s designs.
