Jacob Elordi is set to bring a classic monster to life in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Netflix adaptation of “Frankenstein.” The actor, renowned for his roles in HBO’s “Euphoria” and Netflix’s “Kissing Booth” series, is stepping into the shoes of Frankenstein’s monster, a role originally slated for Andrew Garfield.

Garfield, known for “Spider-Man” and “Tick, Tick… Boom,” had to exit the project due to scheduling conflicts arising from a strike, as reported by Deadline, which also broke the news of Elordi’s casting.
Elordi joins a stellar ensemble cast, including Oscar Isaac as the ambitious and egotistical scientist Victor Frankenstein. The cast further boasts talents like Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, and Christian Convery.
The project is helmed by Guillermo del Toro, the Oscar-winning director of “The Shape of Water.” Del Toro is taking on the roles of writer, director, and producer for this adaptation of Mary Shelley’s iconic novel. The story of Victor Frankenstein, who embarks on a groundbreaking but morally questionable experiment to create life, has been a subject of fascination and numerous adaptations, including the famous 1931 film “Frankenstein,” directed by James Whale and starring Boris Karloff.
At 26, Elordi has already made a significant mark in the industry, portraying notable figures in both real and fictional realms. His portrayal of Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla” and his role alongside Barry Keoghan in Emerald Fennell’s dark comedy “Saltburn” have been particularly acclaimed.
“Frankenstein” is part of a continuing collaboration between Netflix and del Toro, which includes the Academy Award-winning “Pinocchio,” the anthology series “Cabinet of Curiosities,” and animated films like “Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans” and “Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia.” This adaptation promises to add another feather in the cap of this successful partnership.
