Fashion house SANKUANZ has unveiled its Fall Winter 2024 Collection that marks a return to the brand’s origins, revisiting the revered Kangrinboqê. This sacred mountain, a symbol of profound significance in Buddhism, was the muse for SANKUANZ‘s inaugural collection eleven years ago. The latest chapter of this fashion narrative explores a nuanced fusion of classicism and modernity, blending luxury with streetwear, and Eastern culture with Western motifs.
FALL WINTER 2024.25 MENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
The collection traces its roots through the rich diversity of ethnic styles, from Han to Tibetan, embracing a loose and generous silhouette that pays homage to traditional Chinese attire while breathing new life into classic tailoring archetypes. The traditional Tibetan robe draping, a central element in the collection, redefines Eastern essence with modernity. This is seen in coats, sweatshirts, and jackets, as well as in the creative reimagining of the cross-collar, reminiscent of Tibetan khata scarves. This element finds new expression in twisted jackets, shirts with wrapped collars, dresses with geometric necklines, and V-front jeans. The season’s color palette, inspired by nature’s hues – burgundy reds, earthy browns, camouflage olives, and tranquil blues – reflects the deep reverence for nature inherent in early Eastern religions.
The collection is titled “Chapter 5: Seven Diamond Lines of Kangrinboqê,” and it features the iconic dagger motif. This symbol, found as ornamentation on zippers and drawstrings and shaping the pointed toes of distressed cowboy boots and mules, holds deeper symbolism, often used in Buddhist rituals. This emphasizes the spiritual connection of the collection to the sacred Kangrinboqê. A new jewelry collection featuring this distinctive dagger motif also debuts this season.
The collection also includes the artworks of South Korean tattoo artist and illustrator Miki Kim. Her ‘Human Orchid Mantis’ series, which fuses the poised and observant form of the mantis with the feminine figure, creates a striking visual impact. This is accentuated by dynamic graphic elements throughout the collection.
The runway also sees the debut of a capsule collection inspired by SANKUANZ’s latest signature sneaker, Bumpy. This collection features new styles of the sneakers, complemented by an assortment of clothing that mirrors the disruptive and rebellious nature of the sneakers. Emblazoned with the Bumpy mascot and graffiti prints, these pieces serve as a canvas for expressing the unbridled spirit of youth.
