The Vivienne Westwood Spring Summer 2024 campaign is a creative journey into the heart of the brand’s legacy, shot in a still life format that showcases a reimagined wardrobe of the iconic designer. The setting for this campaign was one of the last remaining mannequin factories in the far East of London, a place where the team could explore and capture the essence of the collection amidst the daily workings of the factory. The campaign, characterized by its intimate and industrial backdrop, provided a glimpse into the world of fashion creation, with the welcoming factory workers contributing to the lively and creative atmosphere.
The Spring Summer 2024 collection features Andreas Kronthaler‘s private survey of Vivienne Westwood’s personal wardrobe from the last four decades. This exploration of her wardrobe is not a retrospective but a loving reimagining of the silhouettes that have defined the brand’s aesthetic. The clothes, carefully organized and numbered by Kronthaler, are revisited and remade, reflecting a deep respect and admiration for Vivienne’s style and philosophy.
In an intimate note from Andreas Kronthaler, he shares his thoughts on the collection and his late wife’s unique approach to fashion. He describes Vivienne’s distinctive style, always the opposite of everyone else, and her penchant for wearing things until they fell apart, like her beloved corduroy suit. Kronthaler reminisces about Vivienne’s great skill as a mender, often working in bed, never wasting anything. He admires her ability to make the most of herself and how her mind was always traveling somewhere exciting, somewhere new. This special relationship with time and thought is what he believes made Vivienne so attractive and influential.
Fashion photographer Juergen Teller captured the campaign, with creative direction from Dovile Drizyte, styling by Sabina Schreder, and casting direction by Liz Goldson. Beauty is work of hair stylist Lorenzo Barcella, makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench, and manicurist Michelle Class. Among the stars of the campaign are Lux Gillespie, Naomi Campbell, Penelope Tree, and Vincent Rockins.
