The theme of Anja Gockel‘s Fall Winter 2024 line ‘Pulse of Gaia‘ which contained both men- and womenswear looks takes its inspiration from Gaia. In Greek mythology, Gaia (that is also spelled Gaea, a poetic form of Gé, which can be translated as ‘land’ or ‘earth’) is the goddess of Earth and the mother of all life. ‘Pulse of Gaia‘ symbolizes the vitality of the universe. In that context it also stands for one world and celebrates diversity and unity among each other. As we know from previous seasons, this topic means a lot to the designer. ‘Pulse of Gaia‘ is a story that tells us about the rhythms of our earth and the place of humanity in it.
As location for this fashion show, prestigious five-star luxury hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin was chosen. It is situated at avenue ‘Unter den Linden‘ in the centre of Berlin, at the corner of Paris Square (‘Pariser Platz‘), directly opposite the famous Brandenburg Gate (‘Brandenburger Tor‘). The event took place in the Lobby Lounge & Bar of the renowned hotel that contains an architecturally streamlined design and a very exceptional lightening system.
In her latest line, the designer tells a story about the sensitivities of humanity and develops a vision, a metamorphose. Exactly this inspiration is translated in the fabrics, cuts and choreography of this line. Therefore she encourages the audience to treat Gaia’s gift, the earth, carefully and with respect. Everyone should protect nature and give back what we took from it. That way the beauty and balance of the world will be saved.
Contrary elements play a major role in this line: for example feminine cuts team up with oversized jackets and trousers. These expressive creations are the perfect addition for the courageous wearer. In addition to that, authenticity plays a major role in this set. Therefore intellectual demands and fashion are harmoniously united. In addition to that, the whole collection offers a wide range of casual and edgy silhouettes. Sporty influences must not be missing as well. Distinctive details such as asymmetric tendencies are repeatedly used as well. Some patterns take their influences from the scenery, others contain a rather classy print, such as checked patterns.
When you observe the colour palette of this line, nuances that remind us of the beauty of nature are very present: for instance egg shell, cream, lavender, mulberry, plum, orchid and apple. Therefore the whole range feels like a walk through the environment. A dress in bright fuchsia radiates pure joie de vivre and is a true eye-catcher of this set. What must not be missing in this line are classy, timeless hues such as night black, sheer white, pewter and taupe.
At the end of the show the designer declared what makes this world so beautiful is the unlimited variety of all people. She also explained that the collection should give an impulse to live the life of a free butterfly which exists in harmony with nature. Matching the collections’ theme, both the hair and make-up of the models was worn in a very natural way. If you have a closer look at some hands and feet of the models, you will recognize they look as if they touched earth.
‘Pulse of Gaia‘ is a very individual, expressive, wearable and authentic Fall Winter 2024.25 collection. It can be interpreted as an ode to celebrate diversity and to protect Gaia’s gift, the nature and earth.
