IKEA is launching a unique event, IKEA+, from 29 February to 3 March in Paris, at 28 Rue de Lappe, during Paris Fashion Week. This initiative comes from the IKEA Life at Home Report, revealing that 48% of people globally feel underrepresented in media portrayals of home life. IKEA+ aims to deal with this topic, praising self-expression and representation through a program of music, art, fashion, design, and domestic life.
Taking center stage is their Artist in Residence program with Annie Leibovitz. Through photography, this collaboration seeks to authentically depict the diverse realities of home life across different cultures and geographies. The final 25 images from this collaboration will be showed on the public exhibition launch on the 29 February.
Scheduled for the event are various collaborations with notable figures and entities across various creative fields. For example, IKEA has partnered with Rinse, an online radio station known for its role in promoting emerging musical talents and cultural shifts, to bring the Parisian music scene to IKEA+. The lineup features over thirty artists, such as Andy4000, Anetha, Cyrus Goberville, Fiona Zanetti, Kiddy Smile, Miley Serious, Tcheba, and more. In addition to music, IKEA will introduce the TESAMMANS collection, a collaboration with the Eindhoven-based design duo Raw Color. This collection focuses on the exploration of color interactions and their emotional impact, highlighting the transformative power of color in home environments.
IKEA+ will also spotlight emerging designers from Casa93, a fashion education program that offers a free education model without diploma prerequisites. Six young designers from Casa93 have collaborated with IKEA to create exhibitions centered on eco-design and upcycling. The event promises to offer something for everyone, including a unique dining experience that blends French Bistro cuisine with IKEA’s culinary menu. Daily talks and workshops will also be taking place, featuring notable speakers from the design and fashion industry.
