On February 8th, PUMA made a striking statement at the onset of New York Fashion Week with its event, “Welcome To The Amazing Mostro Show.” Hosted in the historic Park Avenue Armory in New York, PUMA took the venue by storm, transforming it into an immersive experience. The event was a celebration of the return of the Mostro sneaker, a design that originally made waves in 1999. This sneaker, whose name derives from the Italian word for ‘monster,’ is renowned for its low-profile silhouette, distinctive spiked sole, and innovative strap closure.
The show was not just about revisiting a classic; it was a bold reimagining. Through the use of dynamic lighting, projections, and experiential elements, coupled with a musical performance by Eartheater, PUMA set the stage for a fashion-forward spectacle. The Mostro, styled by Alastair McKimm in collaboration with PUMA Global Creative Director Heiko Desens, took center stage amidst a selection of custom and commercial pieces from PUMA’s anticipated AW24 collections. This presentation underscored PUMA’s unique position at the crossroads of sport and fashion, showcasing the Mostro not just as groundbreaking footwear but as a contemporary work of art.
Adding to the event, the Mostro campaign, directed and starred in by PUMA x F1 Creative Director A$AP Rocky, was launched across digital and social channels just before the show, further amplifying anticipation and excitement.
The event attracted an array of notable guests, including Emily Ratajkowski, Ashley Graham, Davido, Kyle Kuzma, Becky G, Hari Nef, Eartheater, Caleb McLaughlin, GloRilla, Lauren London, Jay Brown, Emory Jones, Rickey Thompson, Yvesmark Chery, Stephanie Hui, Coco Bassey, and Harry Hill, marking it as a significant moment in New York Fashion Week and a testament to PUMA’s innovative spirit in blending the realms of sport and fashion.
