On the evening of March 4th, amidst the creative buzz of Studio 217 located at 18 Rue du Grain, Aubervilliers, a most extraordinary “UFO sighting” unfolded, not of extraterrestrial origin, but one rooted in the avant-garde of fashion. Dubbed “Coperni,” this sighting moved away from the conventional, offering a series of revelations for the Fall Winter 2024 collection.
The “sightings” were, in essence, a parade of innovative designs, starting with a sequence of outerwear transformed into bodysuits, accompanied by accessories that seemed to draw inspiration from celestial bodies, including star-shaped stilettos and teardrop earrings. This thematic resonance with the cosmos was further explored through pieces like white technical transparent organza “garment bags” and oversized fake fur coats artistically dipped in latex paint. Each outfit seemed to tell its own story, with elements such as exaggerated low-waisted pants and skirts, and garments with 18-carat white gold leaves.
Perhaps the most captivating aspect of this event was its exploration of form and material, evidenced by UFO-shaped pleated dresses, knitted pieces with intricate cut-outs, and multi-shade dead stock patchwork leather blazers. The use of impressive materials, such as the Air swipe bag made of 99% air and 1% glass, alongside collaborations like the white Puma x Coperni speedcats, makes the Coperni Fall Winter 2024 collection a sight worth seeing.
