The 2024 return of PUMA Easy Rider sneaker rekindles the flame of a nearly five-decade-old legacy. Introduced in 1977, the Easy Rider became an emblematic figure in the 1970s, when running for leisure and fitness began gaining popularity. Its unique design, featuring the federbein outsole with conical-shaped studs for shock absorption, set a standard in the sports footwear industry for outdoor-specific soles. This design not only enhanced performance but also became the sneaker’s most recognizable trait.

The 2024 version of the Easy Rider pays homage to its original counterpart. With its wedge-shaped profile, heel counter, and superlight padded nylon upper, the new edition mirrors the pioneering spirit of the first model while introducing it to a new generation. PUMA’s decision to highlight family ties in the new Easy Rider’s campaign focuses on the intergenerational bond shared through the love of sport and culture, with the campaign showing the two classic, ’70s-inspired colorways, “Black” and “Yellow.”
The creation of the sneaker is primarily credited to Armin Dassler, the son of PUMA’s founder Rudolf Dassler. His vision propelled the Easy Rider into becoming a staple among football casuals and a significant part of terrace culture, extending its influence beyond the jogging tracks. As the Easy Rider returns to the market with its availability starting March 23, 2024, through PUMA’s various retail channels, the Easy Rider is set to reintroduce itself to the new generations.
