The Fall Winter 2024 collection by Stefan Cooke, titled “CITIZENS BAND,” maintains the brand’s established language of color while introducing confident shapes and experimental elements. Embodying hallmarks of value and tension, the collection exudes a sense of New Wave energy, pushing the boundaries of traditional fashion norms. Inspired by a discovered CB Radio scrapbook and its accompanying self-made graphics, the collection explores improvised heroes and imagined narratives, drawing influences from sources like the Upper West Side dance school and photographer Amy Arbus.

The garments in “CITIZENS BAND” showcase confident silhouettes, including draped leather tops, finely belted leather dresses, and handkerchief skirts paired with boxing shorts and breakdancing joggers. Skirted hoodies and intricately constructed jackets with flag-like linings add layers of visual interest, while graphic urgency is expressed through hand-drawn fonts and letters on jerseys, knits, and jackets. Vintage rugby jerseys, readdressed and reworked, alongside baseball shirts featuring the names of previous collections, evoke a sense of nostalgia and brand loyalty.
Accessories play a crucial role in complementing the collection’s aesthetic, with Stefan Cooke’s classic bowling bag reimagined in suede or grained leather, alongside recognizable button straps now made indestructible in rubber. Metal collars double as concealed headphones, while colorful snoods and laissez-faire hats adorned with petal textures add a whimsical touch.

In terms of fabrications, the collection showcases a diverse range, including quilted nappa, hyper-dyed polyester, heavy jersey, fine merino, stiff Italian wool, cotton drill, and even stainless steel. These materials contribute to the collection’s tactile richness and visual depth. Color-wise, the palette is equally diverse, featuring bold hues like Blood, Taramasalata, and Daffodil, juxtaposed with more muted tones such as Sterile White, Charcoal, and Pitch. “CITIZENS BAND” for Fall Winter 2024 offers a captivating blend of innovation, storytelling, and wearable artistry under Stefan Cooke’s creative direction.
