Sky and Peacock have released the much-anticipated full trailer for their upcoming original series, “The Tattooist of Auschwitz,” set to premiere on Sky Atlantic on May 2nd. Adapted from Heather Morris‘s internationally bestselling novel, the six-part limited drama is a poignant retelling of the real-life love story of Lali and Gita Sokolov, two prisoners who found love amidst the horrors of the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II.
The trailer offers a glimpse into the emotional journey of Lali, portrayed in his older years by Harvey Keitel, as he recounts his experiences at Auschwitz to Heather Morris, played by Melanie Lynskey. Through flashbacks, viewers witness the love story between young Lali, portrayed by Jonah Hauer-King, and Gita, played by Anna Próchniak. Featuring a original score by acclaimed composers Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve, the trailer sets the tone for a series that promises to be both heartbreaking and inspiring. “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” follows the story of Lali, a Slovakian Jew who becomes a tattooist at Auschwitz and forms a deep bond with Gita, defying the horrors of the Holocaust.
Directed by Tali Shalom-Ezer, the series is executive produced by Claire Mundell and produced in association with Sky Studios and All3Media International. With Jacquelin Perske as the lead writer, alongside episode writers Evan Placey and Gabbie Asher, the series brings to life a tale of resilience and love in the face of unimaginable adversity. As Lali confronts his past and relives his memories, viewers are taken on an unforgettable journey through one of the darkest chapters in human history.
