In the latest chapter of “The Art of Craftsmanship – A Project by Venetian Masters,” Tod’s pays homage to Italian craftsmanship and lifestyle, with a special focus on the iconic Gommino. Renowned for its commitment to traditional techniques, Tod’s has long been synonymous with artisanal excellence, championing the skills of Italian craftsmen.
For this project, eleven Venetian Masters have been invited to interpret the Gommino using their unique artistry and tools. This collaboration between Tod’s and the City of Venice not only highlights the brand’s dedication to promoting expertise and beauty but also serves as a tribute to the storied legacy of Italian artisanal tradition.
The culmination of this partnership was showcased at an exhibition during the opening days of the 60th International Art Exhibition of Venice. Among the Venetian Masters participating are esteemed artisans such as glassblower Roberto Beltrami, goldbeater Marino Menegazzo, and mask maker Sergio Boldrin. Each artist has drawn inspiration from the Gommino and Tod’s brand ethos to create one-of-a-kind pieces that blend contemporary style with the appeal of a time-honored techniques.
This project highlights Tod’s ongoing commitment to supporting Italian culture. In addition to initiatives like the restoration of historical landmarks such as the Colosseum and Palazzo Marino, Tod’s is also partnering with the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale Arte. Through collaborations with artists and artisans, Tod’s ongoing homage to the enduring elegance and skill that are emblematic of Italian artisanship.
